The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Thursday they are not ready to release information regarding a police action in Brantford on Wednesday. Two men were seen being taken into custody from the house at 107 Brier Park Road.

While officers, including some with cameras seemed to focus their attention on the house, another group of officers and vehicles could be seen further down the street near Pippin Drive, where it appeared a red-coloured SUV was being searched.

The slamming of numerous car doors prompted a Brier Park Road couple to come from their back yard to see what was going on early Wednesday afternoon.

The woman, who declined to give her name, said she counted 17 RCMP police vehicles lined along the street.

“There were about 15 SWAT team guys; it looked like a little army with their guns,” she said, adding that one officer was carrying a chainsaw.

“Squad cars, undercover vehicles, they were all over the place,” said the woman’s husband. “I saw them take two men out of the house.”

The couple said the house was sold more than a year ago, and had been renovated. They did not know the occupants.

A RCMP media spokesperson said a press release may be issued sometime Friday.
