The changes will go into effect Sunday, April 21. Signage at stations along the train’s route between Brossard and Central Station in Montreal will indicate where passengers can board the shorter trains.

The decision to introduce two-car trains on weekends and holidays is based on network ridership figures. Francis Labbé, a spokesperson for CDPQ Infra, which oversees the commuter train service, said the frequency of train service will remain unchanged.

Labbé said that eventually two-car trains will be introduced for service outside high-traffic hours during weekdays, although those schedules have yet to be announced.
