Resident contacts police about snake under house

Norfolk County OPP is once again asking the public to avoid calling them to report wild animals.
On March 28, around 2:50 a.m., police received multiple 911 calls from a Simcoe resident reporting a snake under their residence. The homeowner wanted officers to deal with the reptile.
“The OPP does not have the equipment to trap and house live animals or transport wild animals. Calling the police to deal with a nuisance animal ties up the phone lines at the communications centre and ties up law enforcement officers when they could be focusing on other issues in the community,” Norfolk County OPP Inspector Joseph Varga said in a media release.
Homeowners who have issues with raccoons, snakes, skunks or bats or any other animal on their property need to call a private animal removal service.
