From now until at least April 6, anyone with essential trips to make can hop on the Ride Norfolk shuttle service for free.

“We recognize that the closure of retail locations like libraries and municipal offices makes the purchase of tickets difficult,” says Blaire Sylvester, Norfolk’s public transportation and business development co-ordinator.

“Also, with banks working at reduced hours, it has become increasingly challenging for our riders to obtain cash to pay their fare. We do not want any residents becoming immobile during this pandemic.”

Norfolk County wants residents to understand that the shuttle service – for the duration of the COVID-19 public health emergency – is for essential travel only.

Orders from the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit limiting social contact and interaction remains in effect until further notice. If you recently returned to Norfolk from outside Canada or feel unwell, the county asks you to refrain from using the Ride Norfolk service.

To fulfill the requirement that individuals in public spaces keep a separation of at least two metres, shuttle buses will operate at half capacity. Riders are expected to keep an empty seat between themselves and other patrons.
