Chatham-Kent police reported an officer saw the man riding his bicycle in the area of Princess and Colborne streets in Chatham without the proper equipment on Tuesday night.

The officer stopped the man, who then provided two names.

As the accused was  placed under arrest for obstructing police, he pulled away from an officer resulting in a struggle, police said.

The man was taken into custody and his identity was discovered through investigation, which revealed he was wanted for breaching probation and failing to attend court.

While being searched during the arrest, police said the accused was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

The accused was arrested and placed in custody pending a bail hearing on charges of obstructing police, resisting arrest and drug possession.

Vehicle stolen while left unlocked and running

Chatham-Kent police are investigating the theft of a black 2015 Mazda 6 GT while it was left unlocked and running in a parking lot on Nelson Street in Wallaceburg between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The vehicle has tinted windows and was last seen with Ontario licence plates BWWK 677.

Collisions

Chatham-Kent police responded to two separate collisions that occurred within about half an hour on Tuesday night.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m., police were called to a three-vehicle collision on Lacroix Street near Park Avenue in Chatham.

A 90-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving, police said.

There were no injuries and the total damage was estimated at $12,000, police said.

Emergency personnel responded to a single motor-vehicle crash on Queen’s Line between Merlin and Drake Road around 7 p.m., police said.

The driver, who was charged with careless driving, was taken to hospital as a precaution, police said.

Total damage was estimated at $5,000.
