Roulston's to build new medical centre in Port Dover

Roulston’s Pharmacy has announced plans to build a new medical centre in Port Dover.
Roulston’s owners Blair Snow, Mark Stephens, and Steve Flexman said this week they have received approvals for the renovation and expansion of their current location at 414 Main Street. The project is expected to break ground this spring and be completed in October.
“We at Roulston’s Pharmacy are committed to meeting the need for a new medical centre in Port Dover,” Flexman said in a news release. “For several years, the residents and physicians of Port Dover have expressed that they would like to see a health centre that is well equipped, and centrally located. Blair, Mark and I feel that we can make this happen.”
Roulston’s has three other locations in Norfolk County – one in Delhi and two in Simcoe, including the Wellness Centre on Donly Drive that includes a pharmacy and medical offices.
The expanded Port Dover location will house the office of Dr. Harold Hynscht and also provide space for up to six physicians and other health care services.
Physicians now practising as the Port Dover Family Health Organization Association will move to the Roulston’s Health Centre, said the release. They are currently housed in the Norfolk County Medical Centre on St. George Street.
Association members are “excited to make a move to a modern office, which will improve accessibility and comfort for patients visiting their health professional,” Dr. Alison Malo said in the release.
The building will not be at full capacity when it first opens but the leaders of the project don’t anticipate that will be the case for long.
“Our experience with the Roulston’s Wellness Centre shows that physicians are willing to relocate to Norfolk County if provided with contemporary facilities, and a collaborative environment,” Stephens said.
The new health centre’s expanded parking lot will occupy the southeast side of the Roulston’s property and the vacant lots of 400 and 404 Main St. – formerly Burchams’ Service station.
“We appreciate the opportunity to work with the Burcham family,” said Snow. “Being aware of parking shortfalls in Port Dover, we felt it was important to ensure our development increased the number of parking spaces available on site.”
The current pharmacy and Hynscht’s medical office are expected to remain open during the construction.
