Brant launches new strategic plan

Brant has completed a new strategic plan that will guide county councillors for the next four years.

The plan consists of six main strategic priorities,  including: sustainable and managed growth; effective communication; economic resilience; reliable infrastructure; healthy, safe and engaged citizens; and stable and responsive governance.

Hundreds of residents provided input into the process that began last spring.

“During the community engagement, we learned what the most important priorities, hopes and expectations are for county residents,” said Mayor David Bailey. “From this feedback, we have constructed a new vision for the county and an action plan to meet various goals and objectives.”

The new vision for Brant is for the county to be a charming, prosperous and inclusive community.

“The word charming was used by the community to describe many features of the county such as charming downtowns, charming heritage, charming natural features and so on,” said Bailey. “Another strong theme was that residents want a place where they can have a family, watch their children grow, and retire in; Residents want a community where people of all ages and abilities can thrive.”

Brant CAO Michael Bradley said the county is grateful for input from residents.

“We invite residents to continue to engage and follow along as the strategic plan is implemented over the next four years,” he said.

“Progress updates will be shared with council and the community on a regular basis.”
