A Simcoe man received a $250,000 windfall after spending $10 on a scratch lottery ticket.

Steven Antal purchased his winning Instant Xtreme Green ticket at the Cedar Street Food Market in Simcoe.

“I initially thought I won $25,” the 60-year-old retiree told officials at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto where he picked up his winnings.

“I was surprised how calm I felt,” he said. “I thought I would have been jumping up and down.”

His previous biggest win on a scratch lottery ticket was $1,200.

Antal has two children and one grandchild. He plans to use his winnings to travel and visit his children.
