Waterford District High School students get an extra-long weekend following Wednesday night’s storm.

The storm damaged a transformer at the school, which left parts of the building with no power.

Kimberly Newhouse, manager of communications and community relations at Grand Erie District School Board, said some rooms have hydro but there not enough to run classes for all of the students.

The repairs on the transponder are expected to be completed on Thursday.
