Stratford police drug-trafficking investigation leads to arrests, charges

Stratford police arrested and charged four people, including two from Stratford, with several drug-related offences after an investigation by its street crime unit reportedly found more than $26,000 worth of controlled substances at a Queen Street home.

The investigation focused on alleged fentanyl trafficking from the Stratford residence, and police arrested two men March 1 shortly before 4:30 p.m. after they were spotted at the home.

A vehicle search found 78.4 grams of suspected fentanyl and more than $3,400 in cash, police said. A 20-year-old and 18-year-old, both from Stoney Creek, were charged jointly with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. They were released on an undertaking and will make a court appearance on April 15, 2024.

Later that day, police arrested a 36-year-old Stratford woman at 7:15 p.m. after she was spotted walking on Queen Street.

At the time of her arrest, the woman was allegedly in possession of 1.95 grams of fentanyl, as well as 2.5 LSD tablets and 15 diazepam pills. A search warrant for the Queen Street residence reportedly resulted in the recovery of more than 129 grams of fentanyl, a small amount of methamphetamine, 0.4 grams of crack cocaine, 503 alprazolam pills and two diazepam pills. The total value of all controlled substances seized was $26,174.

The woman was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of possession of a controlled substance and breach of recognizance. Police also arrested a 41-year-old Stratford man at the same time and charged him with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Both were released from custody on an undertaking and are also scheduled to attend court on April 15, 2024.
