Gary Matthew Green, 30, was the target of a short manhunt on Aug. 2 after an incident on Fifth Line Road where a woman Green knew was the target of what police called an unprovoked attack. She was taken to West Haldimand General Hospital in the early morning hours by ambulance with a lacerated ear.

Meanwhile, police knew that Green frequented a Hagersville home on King Street and patrolling officers spotted the black Chevrolet truck he had been driving nearby on Howard Street.

On the front seat of the vehicle, a half-full box of ammunition could be seen.

The OPP set up a containment zone around the address and, at 3 p.m., Green surrendered himself to police.

In court, he pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon, illegal possession of a weapon and breach of court conditions.
