No injuries in minor train derailment

PARIS An army of railway workers with heavy equipment worked to clear debris and repair track following a minor derailment Monday evening in Paris.
The derailment involved freight cars, which appear to have come to a rest on their sides, west of the Market Street grade crossing, as cars were being switched.
On Tuesday morning, near the entrance to the landfill site off of Railway Street, heavy equipment lifted loads of drywall from the overturned freight cars. Access to Railway Street was restricted to vehicles using the landfill site and employees working at area businesses.
A CN spokesperson said crews responded to a minor derailment involving three rail cars within the railyard.
“No injuries, fires or dangerous goods were involved,” said media relations senior manager Jonathan Abecassis.
He noted that an investigation is ongoing into the cause of the derailment.
Maria-Anna Murat, of Via Rail’s media relations department, said alternative transportation had to be arranged for Via passengers on trains No. 78 and 79 Monday evening but Tuesday morning trains were running.
