Truck owner stops theft: Police

The owner of a truck was dragged behind their vehicle for several feet but escaped uninjured while trying to stop someone from stealing their pickup.

The Oxford County OPP said the theft occurred Friday around 7:30 a.m. in Brownsville. The owner of a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado was on a farm property and had parked the truck with the keys inside.

The owner then saw an individual in the driver’s seat, allegedly attempting to steal the car. The owner attempted to stop the person from leaving the property with the truck and was dragged for several feet before the vehicle stopped.

The owner of the vehicle was not injured and kept the individual until police arrived.

A 29-year-old Ingersoll woman was charged with theft of a motor vehicle.
