Two new Norfolk trustees for GEDSB

There will be two new Norfolk representatives on the Grand Erie District School Board following Monday night’s municipal election.

Eva Dixon and Don Werden were elected as trustees to represent Norfolk County Wards 1,2,4,5, and 6. Dixon and Werden are both former trustees. Incumbent trustees Diane Sowers and John Harris were both defeated.

Christina Speers and incumbent Rita Collver were elected in Norfolk Wards 3 and 7 and County of Brant. They were followed by incumbent Tom Waldschmidt and David Van Tilborg.

Brantford voters chose to return three incumbents to their seats on the GEDSB. They are: Greg Anderson, the most recent chair of the board; David Dean; and Carol Ann Sloat. Joining them will be Susan Gibson.

For the Brant-Haldimand-Norfolk Catholic District School Board, Norfolk County’s two seats were filled by Carol Luciani and Cliff Casey. Dennis Blake and Vincent Taylor were the other two candidates.

Brantford voters returned incumbents Bill Chopp and Rick Petrella.

The single seat to be selected by Brant County for the Catholic board was filled by acclamation by Dan Dignard.

Haldimand County’s single seat was taken by Mark Watson.

Dorothee Petit-Pas of Brantford was acclaimed to the French-language Catholic board.
