The group of 25 members helps provide hospital and mobility equipment to those that do not have access to it.

With most of their clientele being seniors, they are trying their best to limit the number of interactions they need to have.

“As COVID-19 evolves we will be as proactive as possible to ensure the well being of those seeking our service and our members is our top priority,” said a press release sent out by the club’s president Bill Renton. “In order to be the most responsible to our community and club we are following the advice of the health care community and as such we are restricting our services.”

The club is asking anyone who currently has the equipment to hold onto it until further notice and to not drop any equipment off at the rear door of the club.

“It’s just in tune with what the health care community is suggesting,” Renton said in a phone interview. “I think we’ve come up with a good compromise with just emergency needs.”

Emergency loaning of equipment will still be considered.

Renton described an emergency as someone that may have fallen and broken a leg and is about to leave the hospital without access to a cane, walker, wheelchair, or crutches.

All equipment is sterilized with a high-tech UV machine before being loaned out to others in need. This will continue to be in effect as the equipment that is currently out is able to be returned.

The group will return to normal operations as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.
