Wind warning issued for Norfolk

Norfolk residents got a blast of winter weather on Tuesday — snow, rain, wind and ice pellets.

The mix made for poor travelling conditions on area roads. Buses were cancelled and schools were closed. Several other programs and services such as Ride Norfolk were also impacted.

And it’s not over yet.

Environment Canada issued a wind warning for Norfolk County on Tuesday afternoon.

Winds gusting up to 90 kilometres per hour may last into Wednesday afternoon. Areas near Lake Erie could experience gusts of up to 100 km/h on Wednesday morning.

“Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds,” aid the national weather agency.  “Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.”
