Ten-year-old Haiden Robb of Bloomsburg has placed first in her age category in multiple trail and road races over the 2019 season.

The Grade 5 student at St. Bernard’s School in Waterford started running with her mom when she was six. They started that year off with a mile a day for 90 days challenge and she never stopped the motion.

This year alone the speedster has placed first in the females under 10 category of Around the Bay 5K, first under 10 in the Brantford Classic 5K, first female under 19 in the Phlox Run Trail Race 6K, first overall at the Toad Pals Trail Race, and first in the 10-14 female age category at the Road2Hope 5K.

Her favourite part of running is going out with her dad, Bryan. The pair run together almost every day, with short runs on weekdays and longer runs on the weekends.

“I want to beat my mom’s 5K time,” Haiden said about her running goals. Her mom, Tamara, has a 5K time of 22:30. Haiden is just a few seconds behind after running a personal record of 22:59 on Saturday at the Road2Hope race.

Haiden’s favourite race of the year was Around the Bay in Hamilton because she got to finish the race inside of the FirstOntario Centre with a crowd of people watching runners cross the finish line, including her mom and her sister, Sydney. The three then stayed in the stadium to watch Bryan complete the 30K Around the Bay.

Haiden also placed ninth in the females under 19 category of the Robbie Burns 8K, second in the female category of the Smugglers Trail Race 5K, and second overall in the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board cross country race.

There are already a few races on her list to complete in 2020, starting with the Robbie Burns 8K in January.
