Eskimos add to rash of CFL quarterback injuries this season

If being a starting quarterback in the Canadian Football League means being part of a fraternity, then the frat house might as well be moved into a MASH unit this season.
With Trevor Harris expected to sit out Friday’s game at Commonwealth Stadium against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, that leaves the B.C. Lions’ Mike Reilly as the one single, solitary starter from the beginning of the season still on his feet.
And, against all odds, it’s the one who has been sacked a league-high 44 times.
Strange days, to be sure, with the other eight teams losing their QB1.
“No, I don’t recall that maybe ever happening,” said Eskimos head coach Jason Maas. “But that’s just what the CFL’s become this year. It’s unfortunate, but what’s good about it is you get to see the guys behind the starters and see that the future’s bright.
“A lot of great quarterback play’s still being done throughout every team in our league, and that’s with the starters out. So that’s good to see and that’s good to see for the league.”
