Balanced scoring paces U16’s in recent wins

The Mitchell Seaforth Rotary Club U16 ringette team continued their winning streak the past two weekends, defeating Elora-Fergus 6-0 on Feb. 3 on home ice in Mitchell.

The Stingers followed that up with another win on Feb. 10, also at home, as they edged Kitchener 6-2. Bri Cook opened the scoring for the home team with Jenna McClure and Emma Goetz each adding one during the first half.

Kitchener scored twice in the first, leaving the game a close one at the half. Goalie Amberleigh Dearing didn’t allow any more goals during the second period, while McClure, Goetz and Kirsten McIntosh each scored to boost the home team to a 6-2 triumph.

Laura McCarthy finished with two assists.

Once they got their legs, the McLaughlin’s Auto Wholesaling U10’s overcame a 3-0 deficit to beat Dorchester’s U12 team 6-4 in WRRL action Feb. 10 in Dorchester.

The Dragons scored 31-seconds into the game then doubled their lead 49-seconds later. Trailing 3-0 Mitchell exploded for four goals in the final six-and-a-half minutes of the opening half to take a 4-3 lead, as Torie Czajkowski scored twice with Lydia McLaughlin and Peyton Ward added others.

Czajkowski completed her hat trick early in the second half, while Cambell Ward wrapped up the scoring for the Stingers.
