The Mitchell Quadro Communications Midget boys baseball team went unbeaten to win the Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) ‘C’ championship this weekend hosted by Kincardine.
And they did it in comeback fashion, too.
After defeating Port Dover 9-3 in their opening game, they beat St. Marys 5-2 this past Saturday morning. After earning a bye, the Astros defeated Corunna 12-2 in a game shortened by mercy rule later that night.
In the semi-final Sunday, Aug. 18, Mitchell reached the final with a 7-4 win over Delaware – Komoka – Mt. Brydges (DKMB).
Matched up against Corunna once again in the final, the Astros fell in an early 5-0 hole after one inning, and were down 7-0 after three-and-a-half innings before digging themselves out to claim a 10-7 victory. Back-to-back four-run innings in the fourth and fifth innings gave the Astros the lead and they never looked back
Kyle Richardson was the winning pitcher while Jackson Macarthur was named the MVP of the final game.
