Schneider, a Grade 10 student, played safety for the girls flag football team. Not just a gifted athlete, she also stepped up as a team leader, motivator and a student of the game.

She served as the Bears’ alternate defensive captain, earning praise from St. Bens athletic staff for being the “lead cheerleader for the entire team” and one who “supported all the players.”

“Bailey provided a special spark to the team through a timely interception that was returned for a touchdown,” the school said in a release. “Her spark helped propel the team further into the playoffs than they had reached in years.”

Robinson also earned high marks from coaches and staff as one who “embodies St. Benedict’s motto of ‘With God as Guide, we seek the best.’”

A leader on the city championship-winning senior boys football team, he was lauded by head coach Junior Labrosse for providing key blocks and tackles that elevated the play of the entire team.

Robinson was especially outstanding, Labrosse said, in the NOSSA semifinals against West Ferris.
