The 10th annual Fore for Shan golf tournament welcomed a record 92 golfers to the Woodstock Meadows Golf Centre for the Aug. 10 fundraiser for Team Shan Breast Cancer Awareness for Young Women. The more than $10,000 raised at the event will go towards awareness and education.
The event is named after Shanna Larsen – also known as Shan – who passed away from breast cancer at 24 years old.
The one-day tournament featured a best-ball and scramble format that welcomed both experienced and first-time golfers.
The winners included the Sally Creek Swingers in the mixed division and the Restless Dog Legs in the men’s division.
Sunny Side Up won the best-dressed team while the Gunning Rascals taking the best dressed carts.
The event organizers also thanked the event’s numerous local sponsors in the community.
Founded in Larsen’s memory, Team Shan helps educate people, health-care professionals and young women about early detection, risk reduction and prevention of breast cancer.
