Warriors 5-0 on season

The Brantford Warriors posted back-to-back weekend wins in Ontario Lacrosse Association junior C action to push their record to 5-0 this season.

Brantford was hoping to bump that win total up one more notch Tuesday night as it was in Fergus for a late contest. The result from that game was not known at press time.

The Warriors started their weekend off by trouncing the Oakville Buzz 14-1 at home on Friday.

Jayden Drage (five goals, two assists), Trevor McDonald (4G, 2A), Caleb Wells (4A), Max Lewis (1G, 3A) and Spencer Martin (1G, 3A) were the offensive leaders as Bobby Morrison was one goal away from a shutout.

A disastrous start in Barrie on Saturday saw Brantford fall behind 8-3 after one period. However, the Warriors then outscored the Bombers 8-1 in the second period as they held on for a 15-13 victory.

Jayden Drage (5A), Blake Dunford (3G, 2A), Connor Merritt (1G, 3A) and Spencer Martin (2G, 2A) led the way offensively with Jonas Zonneveld earning the win in goal.

Brantford’s next game is Friday at the Gretzky centre against Fergus at 8 p.m.
