Soccer stud Cristiano Ronaldo paid his rape accuser about a half million dollars to keep her from making her claims public.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the Portuguese sportsman has acknowledged he paid Kathryn Mayorga the sum in 2010 as part of a confidentiality agreement after she claimed he raped her in his penthouse suite in Las Vegas in June, 2009.
Mayorga eventually identified Ronaldo by name last year and cops launched an investigation. They opted not to charge the model and soccer star due to lack of evidence.
The accuser is still chasing a civil suit against Ronaldo, who has filed new court documents asking a judge to dismiss the case, because he and Mayorga have a binding settlement agreement.
Ronaldo, who has always maintained his innocence, has finally acknowledged the amount he paid to settle with Mayorga in 2010, insisting the cash is not an admission of guilt, just the cost of keeping a legal dispute out of the media.
The judge will now rule on the validity of Mayorga’s complaint and whether she can move forward with her lawsuit.
